The 2016 travel writing awards from the North American Travel Journalist’s Association were recently announced. I was please to find out I was the recipient of 3 awards. Winning a Silver Award for my post visit story on France was especially gratifying. But I am always happy when I can squeeze into the finalist category as I did for two of my columns.
It’s a relatively short drive from Miami to get to the keys. But as you travel down that one highway that gets you there, you know you are entering into a different kind of holiday space. Beaches, fishing, diving, biking dining, and a few great things to see.
In the last podcast I talked about some of the things we did in Doral, most of it in near proximity to Provident Blue Hotel. We used it as a base and went to the shopping centres, South Beach and other areas we visited.
With golf, excellent restaurants, and a great accommodation at the Provident Blue in Doral, a suburb of Miami, we saw no reason to go anywhere else. We had easy access to South Beach and the major shopping centers of Miami, and walking distance to some of the best restaurants you will ever dine in. It really was a perfect stay. The year 2017 will be a 12 month series of celebrations as the great city of Montreal parties from beginning to end. It has been 50 years since the World Exposition of 1967 changed Montreal forever. It’s Canada’s 150 since Confederation, and 375 years since the founding of Montreal.
On this Montreal day we discouvered a number of areas of the city. Going back to the place of Expo67 was emotional, and the view from the mountain was spectacular.
