Squeeze in a bit of golf. And good Mexican food.

We have been quite busy here in the Greater Palm Springs area. Staying in Indio is different for me but it is a community that has just about everything, and is close to Coachella, Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert

A little trip along El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert certainly would convince anyone that there is no shortage of wealthy shopping areas in the region. Name the high end brands and they are there.

But yesterday and today are also about a little golf to be played.

We are staying in the Indian Palms gated community, in a house bordering on one of the three nines of this complex.

There is a really nice pool and hot tube available to residents, along with Tennis and Pickle Ball Courts and a gym that has most of the equipment one would want to keep fit.

The golf course itself winds between the houses of the housing development, which almost by definition suggests the fairways are quite narrow.

With so many high quality tracks available in the Palm Springs are, the course itself is nice but not one many would go out of their way to play on if golf was the objective for their vacation. But it is a pleasant course, and golfing with the two Torontonians I teamed up with made for a very good day of golf.

There is one thing about golf here in Greater Palm Springs. No matter where you golf you often have the mountains as a backdrop which does make for an enjoyable view no matter where you golf, or how bad your game may be for that matter.

After our game, Rae and I decided to go for a late lunch and after driving along Highway 111, which is always the way to find absolutely anything you want since it winds its way through most if not all of the 10 cities.

Golf in Indio, one of the 10 cities of Greater Palm Springs.
Palm Springs restarants are easily found along Highway 111.

We decided to choose the Pueblo Vielo Grill, and as soon as we walked in, we had good vibes about the place. Small, friendly, intimate, a nice mix of people, and a few specials that kept the price very attractive.

I recommend the Tortilla Soup. Rae had an ordinary chicken wrap but some of the dishes being served looked fantastic. We are likely to go back there before the end of this trip.
