Every now and then a simple idea gets turned into an amazing new travel product. Such is the case with the VinniBag.

It may sound like a bit of a strange name, but if you like to travel with wine, other liquids or fragile items in your checked in luggage, this is an amazing product innovation.”VinniBag is a reusable package with inflatable air chambers that protect and insulate its contents” as their literature states.

This protective bag really works and is easy to store in your luggage empty because it is so small when it is not inflated. It is so simple that it is amazing it has not been introduced in this manner before. It only takes a minute or two.

You first put your bottle or glassware in the bag. Then with a few breaths you inflate the bag. Simply by rolling up the bottom edge you create a tight seal. A simple buckle mechanism closes it completely and you can tighten it with the strap on the buckle.

It is easy to deflate by pinching the one-way valve to release the air.

This product was engineered to withstand significant fluctuations in altitude and temperature.

This product is the real winner in more ways than one. It actually is as it won the new product of the year award when it was first launched the Travel Goods Association trade show in Las Vegas.

And now in an actual Cook’s product research test, it came out ahead of its competitors.

They tested four different brands of so-called bottle protectors, all made from various kinds of plastic or neoprene. They put them through their paces via a number of aggressive abuse tests.

They dropped the luggage bags from high heights, tossed them around like baggage handlers would, and rolled them down flights of stairs.

They even flew them across country several times.

The VinnBag material was inspired by the same kind of dry bags sailors use and as the report says, “was the best of the bunch”

The others smashed, broke and left a huge mess. The VinniBag broke only on the last of the tests when it was dropped from a high height on hard pavement. But even then the wine stayed contained inside the material without leaving a mess.

This is one product that has lasted the test of time and is worth buying.
