This morning brought a most spectacular view!
But last night they delivered a most spectacular meal. It
was a special evening aboard the Seabourn Sojourn last night.

In the main restaurant guests were greeted with a special souvenir
menu with only two choices for the main course. It was either fish or steak.
But leading up to the main course, there were no other
choices to be made in this five course setting.
Each appetizer was delicious starting with Carpaccio of Yellowfin Tuna Nicoise followed by Maine Lobster Veloute then Pecorino Ravioli followed by a Rasberry Sorbet with Champagne topping.      .
Dessert proved to be equally tantalizing with Crisp Curried Apple Strudel
But this morning at about 7:30 am we started entering
glacial territory as the ship slowed its pace to a crawl as ice flows started
to appear in greater and greater numbers.
A half hour later we approached the ice flow coming off the
mountains, a depth of three times the height of this ship and going back
several kilometers.
Below the ship a single boat roved around pushing aside ice
flows which might damage the side of the ship. Can anyone spell Titanic.
Clearly the lessons of the past were taken to heart as the
captain maneuvered through the glacial ice field with caution moving at a
snails pace which gave those of us aboard plenty of opportunity to capture the
experience fully in our memory banks and on our digital cameras.
There is not much to say about the experience except to
express how exceptional it was. On today’s blog I will leave you with a range
of photos from the ice flow and the scenery beyond.

Tomorrow we take the tour that I am hosting with our truly
special group. We have come to know each other very well and have been living a
series of on going laughs and shared stories.
In Punta Arenas, our next port of call, we will be visiting
some of the historical sights, driving on the hilltop overlooking the region
and stop at a farm where a sheep shearing demonstration will take place…with
the usual opportunity to purchase wool items as well I am sure.
Consider joining my wife Rae and I on our next hosted cruise
a year from now aboard the Seabourn Legend.
We will depart Hong Kong on January 20, 2014 and sail to Singapore via Thailand
and Viet Nam.
We will include a get acquainted cocktail party as well as a
complimentary excursion in Saigon.
We are back on February 7, so call me to discuss it or speak
with any of our agents ahead of time if you like.
