I occasionaly talk about the Sioux Narrows resort area in my blogs.

During the summer I do all of my radio broadcasts live from my cottage just outside of the downtown area on a bay only a minute’s boat ride from the iconic Sioux Narrows bridge.

This is an amazingly beautiful area of Lake of the Woods which I discovered a long time ago almost by accident.

I have written a nice story about the annual arts festival which takes place every August long weekend. This year is its 50 annual and a really big deal. All in all I try to promote the region whenever I can.

It is an uncrowded area so I don’t know why I want to invite more people except that this is a piece of nature that deserves to be shared.

On last week’s radio show I interview Chan Motlong, the young man who is the third generation owner of Motlong’s Rod and Reel Resort.

I did so because he is a progressive young business man dedicated to making his community stronger. He and 4 other partners opened a local sports bar called The Dock House a couple of years ago and he has pushed for improvements like the new Interpretive Centre currently completing construction.

But his resort is an excellent one and deserves special recognition. Motlong’s Rod and Reel offers all the plan options visitors could hope for.

Want to be pampered with daily meals, and boat and guide that prepares your shore lunch every day…Montlong’s offer that.

Want just breakfast…OK. Just want a cottage to rent and do your own cooking and bring your own boat. No problem.

For families the beach at Montlong’s may be the best in the entire region.

Chan’s sister operates a small bakery at the resort so finish your own ‘homemade’ meal and pick up a dessert to put a nice cap on a perfect day.

You can listen to the interview with Chan on our website as well. Click the June 19 date and enjoy.

You can contact them directly at  Tell them thattravelguy, Ron Pradinuk, sent you and you may get extra special attention…although they do offer that to all their guests.

Before you go drop into Journeys Travel & Leisure SuperCentre on line or at the corner of Donald and Wardlaw in Winnipeg.

Have a great summer and may all your journeys be safe ones,

Ron Pradinuk
