Remember Jamaican sprinting superstar Usain Bolt from the Beijing Olympics.

What a great name for sprinting and travel. His home country of Jamaica recognized that and he became the spokeperson for his country.

Now he has one more badge of distinction.

He was honoured with the “Face of Travel” award acknowledged the celebrity endorsement that has made the biggest contribution to the travel and tourism industry over the past year.

He got the aware for his pronotion of the “One you go you know” campaign for Jamaica Tourist Board.

Jamaica’s Minister for Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett was there to receive  the award on behalf of Bolt at the World Travel Awards Grand Final 2010, which just took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

In accepting he said: “Usain Bolt has been a phenomenal face across the globe since the Beijing Olympics. He has done extremely well for us not only in driving Jamaica as a destination, but also providing his talent to create the campaign that has won the ‘Face of Travel’ award.”

The Jamaican Tourist Board has been extremely agressive in the past few years. The campaigns have worked backed my more flights from North America than ever before.
